Comprised of 110,000 acres of coastal lands and waters, the Reserve is managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Coastal and Aquatic Managed Areas.  It is one of the few remaining undisturbed mangrove estuaries in North America and Treviso Bay greatly benefits from this unique environment.

For a day or night out on the town, there is nothing that compares to downtown Naples.  Quaint streets are lined with unique boutiques, cafes and upscale restaurants with outdoor seating, art galleries and gift shops. Cambier Park holds free outdoor concerts, and the von Liebig Center Art Center presents traveling photography and art exhibitions.
For the outdoor enthusiasts, Naples and the surrounding area offer a plethora of exciting activities. Laze around on sun-kissed beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, take a leisurely boat ride, or take the anglers approach and try your hand at deepwater fishing.  Marco Island is only eight miles south and offers its own vibrant waterfront shopping and entertainment district.

The Capri Grand Villa at Treviso Bay

Posted by briank | Real Estate, SWFL News, Treviso Bay | Posted on February 27th, 2009

R&D Companies’ Capri Grand Villa model residence in the Italia neighborhood at Treviso Bay has been designed for those who appreciate the ultimate in Southwest Florida living. This three bedroom, three and a half bath home is the epitome of the casually elegant lifestyle found throughout the 1,050 acre community being developed by Wisconsin based V.K. Development Corporation just 10 minutes from downtown Naples. Faith Fix of Freestyle Interiors has created an environment that offers a delightful combination of indoor and outdoor living.

The Capri is done in a Mediterranean style with a decidedly Californian edge to it. Saltillo Mexican tile is utilized throughout the living areas of the residence and includes Talevera inserts that convey a very traditional Mexican feel.

The foyer provides a strong first impression. A 16’ barrel ceiling is done in brick with very strong pecky cypress beams. Two beautiful lantern chandeliers with seeded glass and refined metal work hang from the ceiling. Sconces are placed on the columns supporting the beams. The grandness of the foyer is also seen in the furniture selection. The furniture is a mix of hand carved pieces – a drawer chest from South America, an iron and glass étagère with transitional detailing, a carved wooden bench with an antique stool from Tibet, a hand carved mirror – all of which provide an Old World feel.

Aced it.

The first professional golf tournament held at Treviso Bay, designed expressly for that purpose, is in the record books as a success.

The impromptu inauguration was a charm for the eighth venue in the senior tour’s 23rd year in a row in Southwest Florida.

With the weatherman cooperating 100 percent and the big crowds, efficient parking management and some top-notch golf — with the final rounds carried on TV’s Golf Channel — the ACE Group Classic was a welcome booster shot of good news and great national exposure.

ACE Group Classic: Allem plays his way into field with Allianz finish

Posted by briank | SWFL News, Treviso Bay | Posted on February 18th, 2009

Monday’s qualifier will have one fewer spot available in this week’s ACE Group Classic hosted by Peter Jacobsen, thanks to Fulton Allem.

Allem, a 51-year-old from South Africa, finished second in Sunday’s Allianz Championship in Boca Raton. That guaranteed him a spot in the ACE Group Classic’s 79-player field. And meant there will be just three available spots in today’s qualifier instead of four.

Allem, who won three times on the PGA Tour, tied for second twice in his first full year on the Champions Tour last year. He finished 34th on the money list.

Allem wasn’t the only non-exempt player to place in the top 10 on Sunday. Mark James, a former ACE champion, tied for fourth, and David Edwards and Russ Cochran tied for seventh. It was James’s second straight top-10 effort. But only the top non-exempt player automatically earns a spot in the following week’s field.

Allem was the second alternate going into this week. Tom Wargo remains the first alternate, and part-time Miromar Lakes resident Chip Beck moves up to second alternate.

Monday’s qualifier is at The Plantation in Fort Myers. No local players made it through the pre-qualifier played there on Friday.

Admission is free Monday and Tuesday at the new tournament site, TPC Treviso Bay in East Naples. On Monday, a field of 40 amateurs will play for the opportunity to get in golf legend Gary Player’s foursome for Thursday’s pro-am. The amateur qualifier starts at 8:30 a.m.

Bonita resident Jacobsen stays busy, whether on or off golf course

Posted by briank | SWFL News, Treviso Bay | Posted on February 18th, 2009

Peter Jacobsen and his son Mick were at the Super Bowl earlier this month in Tampa, mixing business and pleasure at a pre-game, celebrity-driven party that his sports marketing firm had organized for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Ed Kiernan, the executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Peter Jacobsen Sports and Jacobsen’s right-hand man at his office in Bonita Springs, had been in Tampa too, but he returned to Southwest Florida for work with another client.
After enough time passed without contact between the two, Jacobsen finally had to track down Kiernan.

“He e-mailed me and said, ‘Where are you? I haven’t heard from you in 12 hours. I’m worried about you,’” Kiernan said. “He’s just very driven.”

The concern about Kiernan’s welfare may have been slightly tongue in cheek, but the digital dependence on one of his business wingmen wasn’t.

In growing off-course interests that in many ways resemble his playing career — not necessarily the biggest name in the field but highly regarded by those who know him — Jacobsen has combined a tireless work ethic with a lifelong attention to, as one client puts it, personal and professional style.

Newest in his list of duties is serving as tournament host at this week’s The ACE Group Classic at the Tournament Players Club at Treviso Bay in Naples, where Jacobsen will do everything but play golf after recently undergoing surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder.

“I think it’s really great when a player identifies with a tournament,” said Jacobsen, noting tournaments hosted by Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Greg Norman, not to mention other events once hosted by late icons Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Jackie Gleason.
