The 2011 Naples Winter Wine Festival charity auction holds the promise of acquiring rare vintages and unique and unforgettable wine country experiences around the globe. Of the 70 lots to be auctioned during the Jan. 28 – 30 festival to raise funds for underprivileged and at-risk children, the majority feature very special wines and trips donated by renowned vintners and private collectors.
“I’m betting wine connoisseurs will be thrilled at the prospect of owning a 3-liter bottle of Petrus or the very rare opportunity to obtain one-of-a-kind, large-format bottles from Cos d’Estournel, one of the top Bordeaux producers,” said Scott Lutgert, vintner lot chairman and trustee of the Naples Children & Education Foundation, the festival’s founding organization. “For U.S. wine lovers, we have impossible to obtain bottles paired with Napa-style luxury vacations made very personal by the vintners’ participation. There’s also a phenomenal Shafer Vineyards lot with a complete vertical of Hillside Select. You can’t find these wines and experiences anywhere else, and at the festival, the proceeds are all for charity.”
Here is a sampling of wine lots to be offered at the 2011 festival. Descriptions of all auction lots will be posted at www.napleswinefestival.com in late October.
Lot 2 is a remarkable collection of 28 Magnums – one from each of the festival’s participating vintners. Among the extraordinary bottles is a 2005 Torbreck RunRig, 2005 Araujo Estate Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Shafer Vineyards Sunspot Cabernet Sauvignon – 25th Anniversary Magnum.

“While we show off these beautiful exotic animals, we are really enlightening the public about the ills of having exotic animals as pets,” said Mark Scarola, Director of Shy Wolf Sanctuary. “Once the animal becomes too big, or the owner doesn’t want it any longer, the animals are released into the wild where they cannot survive.”
That’s when The Shy Wolf Sanctuary goes to work. The Sanctuary rescues and provides shelter to exotic animals bred in captivity. Their mission is to care for these animals in the best way possible while in captivity, educate the community about these animals and how we need to protect and preserve them in the wild.
Animals come from “licensed and inspected” facilities, government seizures, shelters, pet stores, and private individuals. SWS cares for those animals it can and attempts to find a home, for those they cannot take in, through networking with other rescuers and sanctuaries across the country. Many animals are adoptable and are available through the wolf dog rescue network. Applications, vet references, home visits and follow-up are mandatory. All animals adopted are spayed or neutered prior to placement.
SWS is licensed by both state and federal entities and is inspected on a regular basis. Exciting varieties of animals coexist at the Shy Wolf Sanctuary, Education and Experience Center, Inc. Phone: 239-455-1698 Email: shywolfsanctuary@aol.com

The High-Rises at Bonita Bay dot a prime western tract of land facing preserve stand, Estero Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. With its unmatched spaciousness, breathtaking views and superb location, Tavira, the newest tower, inspires to live a life without limits or compromise.
In Tavira model 902, refined comfort combines with superlative scenery to create a new level of sophisticated living. The transitional furnishings and décor with contemporary touches by Gary David Designs in blues and greens mirror the water and preserve below. The sizeable residence features 3,517 square-feet of living area; 4,063 total square-feet; three bedrooms, one shown as a custom study, and three full baths. The model is located on the ninth floor and is listed at $1,696,300. Furnishings may be purchased separately and are not included in purchase price.

Centered by a clean lined stone fireplace, the great room kindles a casual, relaxed feeling—a natural gathering spot to relax and chat fireside. The open arrangement of the great room and dining room creates an easy flow between areas, and adds a sense of spaciousness. A natural hub of a home, the kitchen neighbors the family room, which has sliding glass doors accessing an open terrace and views to the east over Bonita Bay. A large sectional sofa in a cool green defines the space and a textural sea grass carpet brings in the feel of the outdoors. The kitchen is open to water views to the west, and is accessible to the dining room and great room.
On the other side of the family room, the study is finished with neutral tone textured coverings on wall and ceiling beams. A rich wood built-in bookcase provides storage and work space, and a leather sofa bed serves as a third sleeping area with adjacent full bath off the hallway. A private guest suite with full bath and private terrace is positioned on the opposite side of the residence.
All Tavira residences enjoy a screened terrace with built-in electric grill and sink. The design of the building and floorplans maximize multidirectional views from multiple vantage points from inside and outside of the residences.
